Botox: Common Myths and the Facts
Does Botox freeze your face? Is it addictive? Evidence-based answers to the most common Botox questions.
“Botox freezes your face”
With the right dose and injection points, only the muscles that cause lines are softened and natural expression is preserved. A “frozen” look is usually the result of over-treatment, not Botox itself.
“If I stop, my wrinkles will get worse”
No. When Botox wears off the muscles simply return to how they were. Lines do not become worse — they may even stay shallower thanks to the period of muscle rest.
“Botox is only for older people”
Many people in their late twenties and thirties use Botox to stop dynamic lines from deepening. Your doctor will advise on the right time after an assessment.
“Botox is purely cosmetic”
It is also used for excessive sweating, chronic migraine and teeth grinding.
